Allison Peeler, DVM
Founder & Lead Veterinarian at True Friend
Dr. Peeler's journey into veterinary medicine began on the very farm in South Franklin, TN, where she resides today. From the age of four, when she could barely pronounce "veterinarian," Allison knew she was destined to care for animals. Her passion was nurtured through hands-on experiences at local shelters (thank you Dr. H, Dr. Z, & Williamson County Animal Center), local clinics (thank you Dr. K & Dr. M), barns (thank you Beth & Martha), and any other animal opportunity she could find.
She pursued her undergraduate studies at Maryville College, where she also competed on the Equestrian Team (thank you CK). Following graduation, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Returning to her roots in Franklin, Dr. Peeler quickly immersed herself in clinical practice. However, she found that traditional practice settings often limited her ability to provide the comprehensive care she envisioned, particularly for fearful and senior pets. The loss of her beloved dog, Nickel, in 2021, was a turning point, inspiring her to create True Friend—a service that prioritizes patient comfort and education in a stress-free environment.
Today, Dr. Peeler lives on her family farm in South Franklin with her husband, Brady, and their lively household of five dogs—Max, Wynn, Obi, Fig, and Juni, five cats — Kai, Catrick, Kitten, Liam & Cheese, several rats, a horse — Chilly, and a fish — Nemo. If you’re on a tele-vet call with her, expect a furry friend to make a cameo! In her spare time, she enjoys dog sports like Agility and Barn Hunt, as well as CrossFit, hiking, and farming.
Dr. Peeler is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA). She is also a certified Fear Free professional, dedicated to creating positive, personalized experiences for you and your pet.
